Parents & Players Code of Conduct

Parents & Players Code of Conduct

Updated 2026

We all have a responsibility to promote high standards of behaviour in the game, and Banbridge Town FC wholly promote and encourage a positive environment whereby football can be enjoyed safely at all times and by all ages.

We believe that children's football is great for physical, mental and social development, and therefore providing a comfortable environment for this to flourish is crucial.

For children, building a love for playing and developing in football is far more important than winning games.

Therefore, as a player's parent/guardian, we ask that you play your part and observe our Code of Conduct at all times. Therefore, you agree to:

  • advise the club of any physical/mental health concerns relating to the child, and advise the club at the earliest opportunity

  • ensure the child is dropped off and collected safely and promptly from training/matches/events. With children under the age of 10, we advise that a parent or guardian remains at or close by to the vicinity

  • ensure that the child is equipped with appropriate footwear and clothing for physical activities according to weather conditions and playing surfaces

  • encourage the child to play within the rules, and respect the opposition and match officials

  • applaud effort and sportsmanship, as well as success

  • always respect match officials' decisions, and never engage in verbal or physical behaviour that could be deemed as offensive, provocative or insulting

  • always remain within the designated spectator areas

  • avoid criticising mistakes made by children - they are part of the learning process

  • let the coaching volunteers do their jobs - they are giving up their time and energy to do what they do

Please be advised that breaching our Code of Conduct, may result in any/all of the following actions:

  • Requested to leave the match venue by a club official

  • Required to meet with club officials

  • Verbal warning from a club official

  • Required to meet with the club disciplinary committee

  • Requested by the club to not attend future games

  • Registration terminated and required to leave the club along with the child

  • Smile and shake hands with opposition and referee at the end of the game

  • receive a written warning from the Disciplinary Committee

  • be suspended from training, matches, or both

  • be asked to leave the club
